Tip by Jennifer Palacios, Tampa, FL. This is a drill similar to queens, but it is called "Don't drop the baby." The farthest side of the net has three players with one player holding a volleyball or "baby". The opposing side has two players on the court with one holding their volleyball or "baby" and one server. Once the serve is made each player on the opposing side must make contact with the ball without dropping the baby. Additionally, a player making contact with the ball in play cannot be holding the baby when contact is made. All three players must...

Tip by Alison Krick, Harleysville, PA. Our favorite (and consistently our players' favorite) drill is one we call the "bowling game" (has nothing to do with bowling). The drill starts with 10 minutes on the clock (time can vary). Player in middle front inserts ball to 1 of...

Drill by Jodie McCartney, Kiski Area School District in Vandergrift, PA.   This is a serve receive drill that can be used in practice, or as a warm up for serving in a game. Split team into 4 groups, two groups on serving line, two groups serve receiving. Both sides serve at the same time, receivers have to get a pass that could be set to a hitter on the court (front row or back row). They have 2 minutes to get 10 passes total (both sides count together). If they pass a ball over the net, or a ball...

Tip is by Katie Clark in Hazelton, ID. Tyler's Drill   This is a warm up 4 v 4 drill. 3 back row players and a setter. One side serves to the other side and they play it out. The three players have to play back row but can hit front row. The setter is the only blocker. The team who wins either stays on the winner side or moves to the winner side and 4 more people come on. The game is always started with a serve. If the server misses their serve, they go to the end of...
