Get players to trust the fundamentals - do this with simple coaching phrases they hear in your gym. After awhile, they begin to finish the phrases as you say them which creates unity in your team's understanding, and they will begin to use them to coach themselves and each other on the court:
Passing Defenders - "Low defense is good defense."
Blocking Defenders - "Big hands, high Hands"
Defensive mentality - "Every ball is getable" and have a "Just go mentality"
Communication for everyone - "Dropped balls happen from miscommunication."
Passing, "Pass with purpose," "Height equals time."
Come up with phrases in your gym that you use to coach with, and use them often. I coach our middle school and high school teams, as well as run programs for our elementary before they enter our program, and these phrases build key ideas that players learn to trust and use in the game. It creates culture in a program, and I believe there's true success with consistent communication.
